Why is it called Rosto?
Because it was the name first. Rosto was Mohamad and Ahmad's original restaurant in Egypt, where the two Syrian brothers learned the trade before difficult residency circumstances pushed them to move to the United States and begin again. They opened Syrian Shawarma in the Tampa area on August 5, 2022. Once that earned a following, they brought the Rosto name back to life on the same street.
How is Rosto different from Syrian Shawarma?
Same family, much bigger menu. Syrian Shawarma is a shawarma house and it does that one thing seriously. Rosto opens the whole range, Syrian, Mediterranean, Arabic and Middle Eastern cooking, with charcoal at the center of it. The point was never a second shawarma shop. It was a room where the food, the presentation and the hospitality all belong together.
Who is cooking?
The brothers. Mohamad came out of business, Ahmad out of mechanical engineering, and their two younger brothers are part of it too. Everything on this menu is halal, and the same people who built the recipes are the ones running the kitchen.
